Callaway’s New Elyte Design

Elyte Drivers

A Sleek Aerodynamic Shape
Driver’s heads have traditionally been big and flat — a combination that, according to the principles of aerodynamic efficiency, is slow and suboptimal. While shrinking the head could enhance speed, the trade-off in forgiveness, stability, and spin control makes it an impractical solution.

With the Elyte driver, Callaway aimed to break this mould, crafting a head shape that boosts speed without compromising key performance metrics like MOI (moment of inertia) and CG (centre of gravity).

Callaway’s aerodynamic research identified a lower heel profile as a critical factor for generating more speed during the downswing. To complement this, the top ribbon of the Elyte crown has been raised higher and extended deeper — a design choice that would typically elevate CG and increase spin. But Callaway had an innovative answer.

Introducing the Thermoforged Crown
The Elyte’s top ribbon benefits from Callaway’s ground-breaking thermoforged crown, made of aerospace-grade carbon fibre. This material is lighter, stronger, and more precisely mouldable than traditional titanium. By extending the crown further down the chassis, Callaway was able to displace titanium, lower CG, and reduce spin — completely negating the potential drawbacks of the new ribbon design.

Testing shows that the redesigned head shape increases clubhead speed by up to 1.3 mph, with measurable gains across golfers of all skill levels. The Callaway Elyte is poised to redefine what’s possible in driver performance.

AI-Powered Precision: Callaway’s 10x AI Face

Callaway has long been at the forefront of artificial intelligence in clubface design, and with the new Elyte driver, they’ve taken their innovation to the next level.

Building on last year’s AI Smoke face, which introduced player data-driven zones of forgiveness, Callaway has supercharged its approach for the Elyte line. The result? The revolutionary 10x AI face.

By significantly increasing both the quantity and quality of player data fed into their AI algorithms, Callaway has engineered a 10-fold increase in the number of sweet spot zones on the Elyte driver face. This breakthrough tightens downrange dispersion by an impressive 19% compared to the AI Smoke design.

Unlike many competitors, Callaway emphasizes dispersion over traditional MOI figures, prioritizing straighter, more accurate shots. With the 10x AI face, the Elyte driver delivers precision and performance like never before.

Elyte Fairway Woods

Callaway has unveiled two groundbreaking technologies in the Elyte fairway wood lineup, addressing two critical performance goals: improving low-face strike performance and ensuring more consistent contact. Featuring the Tungsten Speed Wave and a Step Sole design, combined with the advanced 10x AI face, the Elyte fairway woods deliver a substantial leap in performance.

Tungsten Speed Wave
The Elyte fairway woods incorporate nearly twice the tungsten compared to the previous AI Smoke range, but Callaway has taken a unique approach to its placement.

The 35g Tungsten Speed Wave is positioned inside the head rather than directly on the sole. This forward CG placement increases spin on low strikes while allowing the face to flex more freely during impact. The result is remarkable: ball speeds on low strikes now rival those of center hits, ensuring greater distance and consistency even on mishits.

Step Sole Design
To minimize the occurrence of low strikes altogether, the Elyte fairway woods adopt a Step Sole design inspired by Callaway’s Apex Utility Woods.

By reducing the sole’s contact area with the turf by 57% compared to the AI Smoke fairways, the Step Sole allows the leading edge to cut through the turf smoothly, preventing bouncing or skipping. This design improvement reduces low-face strikes by an estimated 25%, giving players more consistent and reliable contact with every swing.

With these advancements, the Elyte fairway woods are engineered to deliver both forgiveness and precision, raising the bar for performance across the five-model lineup.

Elyte Hybrids

The new Elyte hybrids carry forward Callaway's commitment to innovation, offering unparalleled adjustability and versatility for the top end of your bag. Designed with precision and customization in mind, these hybrids adapt to your game like never before.

Customizable Performance
For the first time in a Callaway hybrid, interchangeable heel-toe weights (3g and 13g) allow for shot shape adjustability. Placing the 13g weight in the toe results in a neutral ball flight, while switching it to the heel creates up to 12 yards of draw bias. This innovative feature puts more control in the hands of the player, catering to individual swing tendencies.

OptiFit 4 Hosel
The new OptiFit 4 hosel extends adjustability further, offering seven unique loft and lie combinations. Among these is the ability to completely flatten the sole, helping to straighten a left miss and provide even greater control.

AI 10x Face Technology
Like the Elyte driver and fairway woods, the hybrids also benefit from Callaway's advanced AI 10x face design, delivering enhanced forgiveness and precision across the clubface.

The Elyte hybrids set a new standard for adaptability, ensuring golfers can fine-tune their equipment to meet the demands of any course or swing.

Callaway Elyte Irons

Callaway’s new Elyte iron range is built around a cutting-edge distance-boosting face design, leveraging their advanced AI 10x face technology to deliver exceptional speed, forgiveness, and accuracy.

AI 10x Face: Precision Forgiveness and Speed
If you’ve seen the AI 10x face in the Elyte drivers, the concept applies equally to the irons — but with refinements tailored to iron performance. Last year’s AI Smoke face introduced zoned forgiveness by analyzing player data to create pockets of forgiveness in the most-needed areas of the face.

For the Elyte irons, Callaway exponentially enhanced the AI process by feeding in more comprehensive and higher-quality data. This resulted in 10 times the “control points” on the face. These zones optimize speed, forgiveness, and dispersion, creating irons that deliver higher ball speeds and tighter shot patterns. The AI 10x face is further fine-tuned across the four Elyte models, ensuring each iron is optimized for its target player profile.

Elyte Speed Frame: Power Meets Flexibility
The refined Speed Frame structure complements the AI 10x face, supporting its flexibility for increased speed without compromising control. Each Elyte model features a Speed Frame design tailored to its specific performance needs.

To ensure a satisfying feel and sound, Callaway paired the Speed Frame with an upgraded version of their urethane microspheres. This new formula eliminates harsh, hollow-sounding impacts often associated with game-improvement irons, replacing them with a crisp and clean sound reminiscent of a player’s iron.

Elyte Tri Sole: Versatility and Turf Interaction
The new Tri Sole grind enhances the Elyte irons' turf interaction, ensuring consistent performance across various lies.

  • The sharper leading edge is raised to prevent digging into the turf.
  • The chamfered trailing edge promotes a smooth exit from the turf.
  • The middle sole section features slight heel and toe relief for added versatility and forgiveness, making the irons effective in any condition.

The Elyte irons combine advanced technology and thoughtful design to deliver a powerful blend of distance, precision, and versatility — a game-changer for golfers of all skill levels.
